Senior AWS Cloud Engineer Location: Dallas, TX
Compensation: $150,000–$180,000+ base salary
Position Overview Our client is seeking a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer to manage, support, and continuously improve our cloud infrastructure. This role plays a critical part in building and maintaining secure, scalable, and reliable AWS environments that support customer-facing applications and internal systems.
You will collaborate closely with technology and product teams to translate business and technical requirements into well-architected cloud solutions, from design and documentation through deployment, monitoring, and ongoing support. This position also serves as a key technical authority for cloud architecture and security, requiring strong knowledge of industry best practices, compliance standards, and risk management. The Senior AWS Cloud Engineer reports to the Director of IT and may contribute to special initiatives and modernization projects as needed. Key Responsibilities Maintain deep technical expertise in AWS and related cloud technologies. Design, implement, and support secure AWS solutions following best practices across the full software development lifecycle. Monitor cloud environments to ensure performance, reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency; implement enhancements as needed. Design and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to support rapid incident detection and response. Identify, analyze, and remediate infrastructure and configuration vulnerabilities. Troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, document resolutions, and implement preventive measures. Own backup, restoration, disaster recovery, and failover processes. Conduct regular environment reviews and support monthly/quarterly audits and security risk assessments. Recommend and lead cloud infrastructure improvements and modernization efforts. Proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact users or operations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, implement, and document cloud standards and best practices. Experience & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. AWS certifications strongly preferred (Solutions Architect, Advanced Networking, Security). Proven experience owning and operating production AWS environments with responsibility for reliability, security, and continuous improvement. Strong experience designing and operating AWS VPC architectures, including routing, security controls, and service connectivity. Hands-on expertise with core AWS services, including: Compute: EC2 Storage: S3, EBS Databases: RDS, DynamoDB Containers: EKS, ECS, ECR Serverless & integration: Lambda, Glue Experience managing Windows and Linux servers in production environments. Strong knowledge of AWS IAM, security controls, and compliance frameworks (CIS, SOC, ISO). Advanced automation and scripting skills (Terraform, Bash, PowerShell, Python). Excellent problem-solving abilities with strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with Microsoft .NET and modern web application architectures is a plus.,
