About The Role
The Web Engineering team at Cisco is seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer to join a dynamic, best-in-class group responsible for managing and optimizing Cisco’s web infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to work remotely anywhere within the United States. As a DevOps champion, you will be instrumental in maintaining and enhancing the web stack across all environments, ensuring high availability, security, and performance of public-facing websites and applications. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to manage production systems, implementing CI/CD pipelines, and leveraging AI-augmented observability tools to proactively monitor infrastructure health. The role emphasizes building scalable, reliable systems while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and automation. You will also develop AI literacy and prompt engineering skills to effectively interact with AI tools integrated into the DevOps workflows, contributing to Cisco’s innovative approach to infrastructure management. The ideal candidate is motivated, detail-oriented, and thrives in fast-paced environments, with a passion for technology and continuous learning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 6+ years of experience as a DevOps or Site Reliability Engineer.
- Hands-on experience with Content Management Systems such as Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and WordPress.
- Proficiency with AWS cloud services and tools including EC2, ALB, NLB, VPC, EKS, ECS, Route53, S3, EBS, and EFS.
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
- Strong knowledge of version control systems including GitLab, GitHub, Bitbucket, or SVN.
- Experience with web servers like Apache and Nginx.
- Understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, firewalls, and iptables within AWS and Linux environments.
- Expertise in CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, Selenium, Serenity, Cucumber, Sonar, and Gherkin.
- Familiarity with Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) like Akamai or Amazon CloudFront.
- Security and compliance knowledge, including IAM and cloud auditing/monitoring tools.
- Experience with AI-powered observability platforms such as Splunk Observability Cloud and ThousandEyes.
- Basic understanding of AI, machine learning concepts, prompt engineering, and responsible AI practices.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to quickly learn new tools and technologies.
- Excellent communication skills, thorough documentation, and collaborative mindset.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and optimize the web stack across development, staging, and production environments to ensure high availability, security, and performance.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to manage and support public-facing websites and applications.
- Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines to facilitate continuous integration and deployment processes.
- Leverage AI-augmented observability and assurance tools to proactively monitor infrastructure health, performance, and security.
- Develop and enhance automation scripts and processes to improve operational efficiency and reliability.
- Build and maintain scalable, resilient cloud infrastructure utilizing AWS services and container orchestration platforms like EKS and ECS.
- Configure and manage web servers (Apache, Nginx) and networking components to support web applications.
- Implement security best practices, including IAM policies, network security, and compliance monitoring.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, including AI, machine learning, and automation tools, integrating them into DevOps workflows as appropriate.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and incident reports to ensure knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response to troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues promptly.
