About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Data & AI Lead to join our remote team within the United States. This pivotal role involves spearheading our efforts to leverage data and artificial intelligence to revolutionize our operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing real-time data streaming solutions, developing robust data pipelines, and managing large-scale data warehouses that support business intelligence and analytics. You will collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to deliver innovative data solutions, ensuring data security, compliance, and optimal performance. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence the future of freight rail by transforming data assets into strategic enterprise capabilities. The role requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional with strong technical expertise and a passion for continuous learning and innovation.
Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or database management
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, and Java
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts including dimensional modeling and star schema
- Experience with ETL processes and cloud-based data integration tools
- Familiarity with database management systems (SQL, NoSQL) and lakehouse technologies like Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake, Apache Trino
- Hands-on experience with data streaming technologies such as Apache Kafka, AWS Kinesis, Apache Flink, and Apache Spark
- Knowledge of data orchestration, datamart creation, and certified datasets
- Experience with DevSecOps practices, source control systems like Jenkins and GitHub
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
- Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and technical concepts
- Effective in communicating complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable data streaming solutions for real-time data processing
- Develop and maintain data pipelines for both real-time and batch processing, including ETL workflows
- Create and manage large-scale data warehouses to support analytics and business intelligence
- Integrate data from diverse sources to produce certified, high-quality datasets
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver tailored solutions
- Optimize data workflows, monitor pipeline performance, and troubleshoot issues promptly
- Ensure data security, privacy, and compliance with industry standards and regulations
- Stay current with industry trends in data engineering, AI, and machine learning to incorporate best practices
- Write well-documented, efficient code with comprehensive unit tests
- Lead the deployment of data engineering solutions into production environments, including testing and monitoring
