Reporting to the Head of Data, the Data Engineer, alongside fellow team members, helps to build our enterprise data platform using modern technologies. We are looking for a strong technical individual who is curious, collaborative, and eager to be a trusted partner across teams.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Participate and contribute to design sessions and code review sessions.
- Configure and manage data ingestion tools such as data factory, stitch, azure synapse etc.
- Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture using python and SQL.
- Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements such as automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, designing smoothly scalable infrastructure
- Build and maintain ELT/ETL pipelines using cutting edge analytics engineering approach and techniques.
- Build and support enterprise BI models using Microsoft Power BI
- Work with business users and stakeholders to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data needs.
- Explain complex technical concepts and insights to non-technical cross functional team members
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve an organizational goal ideally in an agile environment
- Insurance and/or re-insurance data experience is required, including experience with cession statements data and ceded premium concepts
- Well-developed SQL and Python coding skills
- Substantial experience in Azure platform services or equivalent, such as Snowflake or Big Query
- Strong hands-on experience in modern BI and analytics tools such as Power BI or equivalent
- Approachable personality and experienced building strong cross functional rapports with business counter parts, and leveraging people skills for smooth project execution
Highly Valued
- Familiarity with Workday accounting center and/or Prism Analytics is preferred
- Familiar with medallion architecture and concepts
- Understanding of industry standard data warehousing concepts and architectures such as Kimbal and Inman
- Hands on expertise for building and scaling CI/CD pipelines on Azure Git
- Expert in ETL/ELT and performance tunning
- System design experience is preferred
