Role Overview
The Senior SQL Administrator is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust, secure, and high-performing SQL Server databases. This role ensures data integrity, availability, and performance, while working closely with cross-functional teams to support business and application needs.
Required Experience & Skills
- 5+ years of experience in SQL development and administration
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server
- Expertise in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions
- Solid experience with performance tuning (indexes, execution plans, query optimization)
- Experience with ETL processes and data pipelines
- Familiarity with database security, roles, and permissions
- Experience with backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies
Nice to Have (Added Advantage)
- Experience with AWS Glue and Amazon Redshift
- Exposure to cloud-hosted SQL environments (AWS/Azure)
What You Will Do
- Design, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries to improve performance and efficiency
- Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement proactive tuning strategies
- Ensure data integrity, consistency, and security across multiple database environments
- Manage and review backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes
- Support production systems by resolving performance and availability issues
- Collaborate with developers, DevOps, and support teams to meet application and reporting needs
- Participate in database design reviews and best-practice enforcement
