The Paragon Policy Fellowship empowers university students and recent graduates to partner with state and local government and develop digital governance solutions at the intersection of technology, policy, and public interest. With a Fellowship alumni network over 350 students from 100+ colleges, Paragon has partnered with 28 government across 19 states and U.S. territories on 44 projects to support public interest technology innovation. Individual Objectives
The Social Media Coordinator is responsible for:
- Maintaining and expanding Paragon’s presence on its social media platforms, including but not limited to, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Substack
- Researching and identifying new methods of social media engagement and content creation, and implementing these new strategies
- Assist in publishing the bi-cohort newsletter
- Collaborating with the Paragon Design team to create compelling graphics for social media
- Developing and utilizing a comprehensive weekly posting schedule and strategy for Paragon’s social media
- Assessing metrics to maximize engagement on Paragon’s social platforms
- Developing and update the media kit on an ad-hoc basis
- Collaborating with the News Media Coordinator on joint-media initiatives as needed
- Monitor CRM software to track engagement, leads, and content analytics
- The Social Media Coordinator is also permitted to develop their own initiatives, as long as they are effectively communicated with their Director.
Skills
This role is designed for someone who excels in media relations, possesses strong writing and communication skills, demonstrates creative content development skills, and has experience managing public relations and social media platforms. The ideal candidate should also have exceptional organizational and time management capabilities, be able to work both independently and collaboratively, and possess the interpersonal skills needed to effectively engage with fellows and other stakeholders while maintaining a strategic mindset for advancing the organization's public presence.
Expectations
- THIS IS A VOLUNTEER POSITION, but if selected, expect to commit ~7 hours of work a week to the role
- Provide timely communication with team members
- Attend mandatory weekly meetings: a team-specific meeting, and an executive board-wide meeting, as well as any other position specific meetings
- Complete their assigned asynchronous work effectively and on time, demonstrating proactivity in communication and problem-solving if challenges occur in completing work on time (the Executive Team will work with you if difficulties arise)
- Maintain responsible communication with the Paragon community
