· Role Title: Project Engineer – EV Conversion (Material Handling equipment’s)
· Reporting To: Project Director / Operations Director
Location: Pune, India
· Project Type: Conversion of Diesel operated equipment’s to battery operated equipment’s
· Experience – 5 to 7 yrs
Role Purpose
The role majorly co-ordinates with customers and internal stake holders to ensure the timely delivery of repurposed / electrified vehicles.
Critically responsible to meet the deadlines of the delivery on month on month basis.
Also responsible to lead new development projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. Vendor Coordination & Parts Management
- Coordinate with component vendors and suppliers for EV subsystems and electrical parts.
- Obtain technical specifications, drawings, test data, and compliance documents.
- Support sourcing decisions by providing technical inputs and feasibility assessments.
· Act as the single-point engineering interface for vendors during development and trials.
· Setup strong vendor base in co-ordination with internal purchase team for repeated purchases.
2. Customer Coordination
· Should be able to communicate to the customer on decided frequency basis for the updates on the project.
· Should ensure receipt of old machines from customer to meet delivery timelines.
· Should follow-up for responsibilities undertaken by customer to meet deadlines.
3. Project Management & Internal Co-ordination with Team
· Should provide a proper report on the progress of each machine to the management.
· Should provide weekly & monthly planning report to management and must ensure the progress accordingly to the submitted reports.
· Should adhere to pre-defined budget of the project.
· Providing purchasing forecasting & requisitions to internal purchasing team based on project deadlines
- Engaging with logistics vendor and ensuring the execution for incoming & outgoing vehicles / components
- Co-ordination with accounts team for ensuring vendor payments and invoicing as and when required.
- Follow up with customer for regular receivables
4. Documentation & Technical Communication
- Maintain updated electrical documentation, wiring diagrams, interface notes, and trial reports.
- Communicate issues, risks, and progress clearly to internal stakeholders and management.
- Support basic compliance and safety documentation related to EV systems.
- Maintain photos of before & after based on vehicle to vehicle in a structured format as per company guidelines.
- Knowledge on import process for importing components will be an added advantage
Critical Skill Requirements
Technical Skills (Must-Have)
- Strong fundamentals in vehicle electrical systems.
- Practical experience with EV or hybrid vehicles, electric drivetrains, or electric industrial equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams will be an added advantage
Soft Skills
· Strong communication skills to interact with vendors, designers, and internal teams.
- Ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-specialists.
- Proactive coordination and follow-up mindset.
- Structured problem-solving and calm approach during trials and failures.
- Comfortable working in ambiguity and early-stage development environments.
Experience & Background
- 5 -7 years of relevant experience in Automotive, Material handling industry, vehicle electrical engineering, EV development, or electric industrial vehicles.
- Prior exposure to EV conversion, retrofitting, or prototype development is a strong advantage.
- Experience working with suppliers and external engineering partners preferred.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Automotive Engineering.
- EV-specific certifications or project experience will be an added advantage.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: ₹600,000.00 - ₹900,000.00 per year
