About The Role
As a Staff Marketing Data Scientist at Thumbtack, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our marketing analytics capabilities. You will be entrusted with developing innovative measurement methodologies that evaluate marketing effectiveness across multiple channels. Your expertise will help shape the strategic direction of our marketing efforts, ensuring that our initiatives are data-driven and yield measurable results. This senior role requires a combination of technical proficiency, strategic thinking, and cross-functional collaboration. You will lead efforts to create scalable frameworks, enhance existing models, and explore new analytical approaches to maximize return on ad spend and drive sustainable growth. Your insights will directly influence business decisions, marketing strategies, and overall company performance, making this an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or economics
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in Statistics, Engineering, Analytics, Math, Computer Science, Economics, or a related technical field
- Proficiency in analytical tools such as Python and SQL
- Strong understanding of statistical modeling, data analysis, and experimental design
- Experience working in dynamic, fast-moving business environments
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex insights to cross-functional teams
- Ability to build and maintain strong collaborative relationships
- Experience with marketing analytics, channel measurement, and incrementality studies is a plus
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and enhancement of measurement methodologies to evaluate marketing effectiveness across channels
- Create and implement scalable frameworks, tools, and processes for systematic measurement
- Improve existing modeling approaches to produce robust and actionable insights
- Iterate on measurement strategies for marketing initiatives such as channel incrementality and ad spend optimization
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, product, and data engineering to align measurement efforts with business goals
- Mentor junior team members and promote high analytical standards within the team
- Identify new opportunities where advanced analytics can unlock additional business impact
- Communicate complex analytical findings clearly to stakeholders and support data-driven decision making
