About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Scientist specializing in Analytics & Data Science to join our dynamic team in San Francisco, United States, with the flexibility of remote work. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to tackle a wide array of product and business challenges. Your primary focus will be to leverage your technical expertise to analyze data, develop hypotheses, and generate actionable insights that influence strategic decision-making. You will be instrumental in shaping product development, identifying new opportunities, and forecasting key metrics to ensure our offerings deliver maximum value to customers, businesses, and Atlassian. Your ability to communicate complex data insights clearly and persuasively to senior leadership will be crucial. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on innovative projects that impact the company's growth and success while utilizing cutting-edge analytical methodologies and tools.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of professional experience in Data Science or related fields
- Proficiency in SQL and at least one additional data manipulation programming language (e.g., Python, R)
- Strong expertise in storytelling with data and familiarity with visualization tools such as Tableau, R-Shiny, Microstrategy, SAP Business Objects, or Looker
- Deep understanding of statistical concepts including regressions, A/B testing, clustering, and probability
- Proven experience leading projects that significantly impact business strategy and performance through analytics
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of crafting persuasive analysis
- Experience advising and presenting to senior executives and serving as a thought partner
Desirable Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in Data Science or related fields
- Understanding of SaaS business models and key performance metrics
- Experience developing insights for Chat, Search, or Large Language Model (LLM)-based products
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address diverse product and business challenges, establishing yourself as a trusted strategic partner
- Apply technical expertise in quantitative analysis, experimentation, and data presentation to develop strategic insights
- Formulate hypotheses using various analytical methodologies and frameworks, then rigorously test these hypotheses
- Identify opportunities for product and business improvements, influencing roadmaps through insights and recommendations
- Partner with teams to inform, influence, and execute strategic decisions based on data-driven insights
- Define, monitor, and analyze key product metrics, forecasting trends and measuring the success of initiatives
- Utilize data to shape product development, quantify new opportunities, and anticipate upcoming challenges
- Communicate insights effectively to leadership and broader teams through storytelling and visualizations
